The blue pokemon for sapphire version is kyogre, and the red one for ruby version is groudon. They're pretty neat huh?
Now, as for the villians... Team Rocket has been abolished in this game, however, two new gangs have arisen- Team Magma and Team Aqua. Team magma is after the king of the land, Groudon, and Team aqua is after the King of the sea, Kyogre. As an added twist, Team Magma and Team Aqua absolutely detest each other. That ought to make things very interesting.

Onto details on the main chars. and his/her rival! Well, As you know, there is a male and a female char. to choose from. If you choose the male, your rival is the female. If you choose the female, your rival is the male. It's said that you and your rival are more friendly with each other than in past games. As for your room/home, instead of the usual house with a bedroom ou have what's called a hideout which is more lke a cave. You can add dolls and other things, plus change the layout.

And the last few bits of it all... There will be linked two way battles, you know, two people against two other people. The weather will affect the game, snow and rain are the only ones known so far. Instead of Poke-gear, there is a device called the Pokemon Navigator which seems to have all the same functions as before with new features as well, including the recording of info on trainers you've met. There is also the possibility of being able to travel in a truck, although that is only a rumor.

The game begins as you are the new kid in town. Professor Birch, a pokemon researcher who prefers hands-on experience rather than tedious book work, lives in your town. Coincidentally his son/daughter (opposite sex of which ever character you choose to play as) becomes a friendly rival. Professor Birch is in the woods when he is attacked by pokemon. You find his pack with 3 pokeballs sprawled around it and choose one to ward off the pokemon with. Professor Birch allows you to keep this 'starter' as a token of appreciation for saving him...
